  • Martin, I don't think anyone has or not that's been confirmed on any forum. I understand it would indeed be an enormous task but one that a lot of people would be interested in. The impression I have had is that the Sibelius folk are just too busy. Perhaps it would need a coordinated effort where perhaps several people took on a chunk each. But as I don't now how to create a sound set I don't know how difficult or time consuming it would be. If A central person was to produce an idiots guide and it was not too onerrous I would be willing to join in (doing Brass as I have all three sets).

Would you be willing to step up to the plate?

Would anyone else be willing to organise or join in such an enterprise?

  • Well... Since it seems that nobody has worked on this, I will start doing it myself. It might take a few weeks, but I'll let you know when I'm done.

  • Hi,

sorry for chiming in so late. Andreas Olszewski, our Sibelius specialist, has just finished a soundset for the VI Solo Strings, AFAIK.

Just to avoid unnecessary work. If you are interested to assist us, we will be more than pleased [:)]

Please write a short email to support@vsl.co.at, so that we coordinate our efforts!

    Best,

    Paul

  • Thats fantastic news[B]

  • Excellent.

  •  /sternly impatient, yet very appreciative of the things that VSL does for its customers without having to.

  • Yes! This really would be brilliant. I've done some soundset programming myself, but it's slow going, and hasn't always worked as expected. It would be great have a known-working solution!

Look forward to hearing more news.

  • Dear All,

I'm a bit confused by these posts. I've just finished putting together soundsets for the way I use the symphonic cube on my 4-PC setup (helluva job, but finally Sibelius is acting the way I think it should), and the percussion was a complete PITA. But that's just it - they are for the way I use the symphonic cube and the presets I've set up, with any modifications I make. And doesn't everybody use it differently? So what are you doing with the solo strings? Mapping every preset/patch that you ship with the library?

I'm hoping that you won't come back with an answer that makes me slap myself on the forehead and hurl abuse at myself for being such an idiot but, in a perverse way, I rather hope you do. So 'fess up VSL - how are you going about doing this? Mapping every shipped matrix?

    Kind Regards,

    Nick.

  • The Solo Strings sound set comes with VI presets for every instrument (Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass).

Sound set and presets are finished and should be online within the next days. [H]

  • This is great, because I know from my own soundset experience that creating additional instruments is much simpler when you've got one "in the bag", so to speak. And since you've tackled the the Solo Violin first, which is one of the most complex instruments available, I'd imagine it should be much quicker to get soundsets for the other instruments made. Hope so anyway... This is making me feel very greedy!

This will be so great for us Sibelius users!

    Thanks!!!

    J.

  • Actually, continuing from my last post, having the Solo Strings soundset should make it pretty easy for us to create our own soundsets for the other instruments - just use the Solo Strings one as a guide! Nice!

Easily the best customer service around.

  • btw: soundsets for sibelius 5.2 are now online too (special edition, special edition plus, solo strings) - please be aware sibelius 5.1 and 5.2 need the respective (different) soundsets and solo strings comes with some additional presets ...

  • I'm not sure if it's a Sibelius problem or a VE3 problem, but the Solo String soundset doesn't show up in Sibelius.

  • Hello Ben!

Did you load the right version of the sound set (Sibelius 5.1 or 5.2)? They are not compatible and the sound set will only show up, if you have installed the right version of it.

Which folder did you copy it to?

Please copy it to one of the following locations:

    Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Application Data\Sibelius Software\Sibelius 5\Sounds
    or C:\Programs\Sibelius Software\Sibelius 5\Sounds

    Windows Vista: C:\Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\Sibelius Software\Sibelius 5\Sounds

    Mac OS X: /Users/your username/Library/Application Support/Sibelius Software/Sibelius 5/Sounds

You may have to create the "Sounds" folder if it doesn't exist.

    Hope that helps.

  • Thank you, Andi. I'm using Sibelius 5.2 on XP64, but it's still not working.

    I put the XML is this folder. C:\Program Files (x86)\Sibelius Software\Sibelius 5\Sounds

Just to be clear, this is the place I should be seeing it, correct?
