  • Out of Memory

I've just purchased the Cube along with Cubase 4.  Both programs are new to me and I'm afraid I'm just ignorant as to how to optimize my memory usage.  I watched the video on memory optimizing. Back into C4, I loaded a woodwind matrix,  hit the learn button,  played my track and then hit the optimize button, only to have a good deal of my notes not play.  What gives?  I'm running a Intel P6, 2.4GHz dual quad with 8G's of Ram and XP64.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi there, welcome to VSL world. The optimizing process discards any samples that aren't used in your arrangement in order to maximise free RAM, so after you've done it your loaded instruments will be missing lots of samples. The only problem comes if you then try to tweak the arrangement, because if you alter or add notes there's a good chance the samples for them will be absent. So as a rule of thumb, only optimize after you've completed an arrangement.

  • Thanks for the info, I'll wait next time (after I've redone that last track)[:)]
