  • VE doen't list altiverb 6.12

is anyone familiar with this problem?:

i installed altiverb 6.12 a week ago and while it works perfectly in my sequencer (cubase 4.1.2) it simply doesn't show up in ve - all my other plug-ins do.

i was planning on creating finished presets for orchestral instruments in ve using the positioning in altiverb - which doen't work now - this is why i am bothered by it.

    i am currently working on a macbook pro, 2ghz coreduo, 2gb, m-audio firewire 410 - however switching to a macpro 2,8ghz octo-core, 8gb ram in a couple of days. os is 10.4.11.

    anyone?

    cheers

  • Hello, no problem here with VE and Altiverb 6.1.2. on a MacPro 8core 3gHz/16GB (10.5.2).

  • Thanks Christian!

Then i guess i just wait and see hwo my new system will handle it and not bother about putting anymore energy into this.

  • Gernot:

I just installed Altiverb 6.1.2 on my G5 running OS 10.4.11 and it has been successfully validated by Logic 7, Logic 8 and DP. It also showed up immediately in Vienna Ensemble. Before and after installing it, I repaired permissions with Disk Utility. If repairing permissions does not do the trick for you, I'd suggest using Alsoft's DiskWarrior to rebuild the startup disk's directory. (When I first installed Altiverb 6.0, Logic did not detect it and kept issuing an error message stating that Altiverb 5 was missing. After I rebuilt the disk directory with DiskWarrior, Logic immediately recognized and validated Altiverb 6.)

  • ... everything's fine now - thanks a lot! set up my new mac pro - new installation - everything shows up as it should and works brilliant. and what a difference it makes to finally have some horsepower behind the projects! as many instruments and reverbs as i want without having to freeze... it's a whole new world! ;) now the wait starts for ve3 and 64bit... cheers gernot

  • Hello everyone.

Reading about altiverb seem like the best chose and really good and only  choose at the moment for a good IR. But is there any word out on the MIR. I will be looking into getting Altiverb, but if there's maybe a chance that MIR maybe be coming this year or close to the end of the year. I would rather wait. But if we don't have the power for MIR until a couple of years I would consider getting altiverb unless anyone else has any suggestions.  And also what type of power are we talking about that a program like MIR would need if there information out there on this subject. Thanks again.

Don't wait for MIR, because you'll have to by a new PC specifically to run that, and nothing else.

It's very good, but I think that your current computer will struggle, particularly if you're trying to play samples back at the same time.

  • O ya you are right. Hard to get even 2 space designer going. But 8-Core in the mail.
