  • Help Help Special Ed not finding liscense

VSL Special Edition on Windows XP PRO

My motherboard crashed on me last week, and I have since been in hell.  I began reinstalling the software on another computer.

I have the latest install from vsl... and the latest Sycrosoft liscense as well.  followed all the instructions correctly,  tried numerous times.  Whe I start the standalone player though... it says that "No Liscense Installed"

I have spoken with the tech support at ILIO.  They have sent VSL support an email.  VSL has yet to respond in 3 days! UGHH!! Can someone please help??

Im almost missing GigaStudio (God Help Me).

brad, sorry to hear about your troubles .... however paul from our support team replied actually the second time yesterday 14:50 CET ...

    to narrow down the issue:

    - does your LCC (syncrosoft license control center) recognize the key

    - if yes, does it show the licenses expected

    - if yes did you run the directory manager to familiarize the VI to the location your content is stored

here you could find a video tutorial about the directory manager

  • Hey Christian, Thanks for the reply.

Yes to all of the above questions.  My previous computer worked fine and saw the license.  However the current computer is not connected to the internet.  And every time I start the license control center it crashes and never opens.  It just doesnt make sense.

If I connect the dongle to a computer with internet access the control center opens and shows the license for the VSL Special Edition.

I have also done a clean install of the operating system.  That did not help either.  Any other suggestions?

  • Hi Brad,

did you try uninstalling the Syncrosoft LCC and installing it once again? From what you are describing, things have been getting worse - as the LCC now crashes when you try to start it...

    Let me know!

  • Yeh I did that as well.  Confusing isnt it.

    Brad

  • It is confusing!

Did you contact support@syncrosoft with a detailed description of your setup and the problem?

I´m sure they can assist you with these special issues.

  • I have not actually.  But I will though.  Thanks for the heads up.

    Brad

  • Ok get this....

I decided to go to yet another computer just to see what was up.  Did the same process, and the license control center opens up just fine.  VSL Special ED.  opens up and finds the license.

However... the other computer. The one that I need it on,  does not show up... and the license center still crashes.  Rediculous.

It is definately some incompatibility with the syncrosoft and this computer.  Is there a list of known problems with certain pc's?

basically we have not heard about a real incompatibility, though there might exist USB devices which crash the whole bus ....

a more probable reason would be a failed install ... you could try to follow this instructions:

    > [Syncrosoft support advice]

    > - please do a complete new installation of the Syncrosoft License

    > Control Center in "Overwrite" mode by following these steps:

    >

    > a.. Unplug all USB keys

    > a.. Download the latest Syncrosoft License Control Center from

    > a.. Go to Windows "Start" menu, select "Run.", enter "cmd" and press

    > [ENTER] -> This opens the command console window a.. Drag the

    > downloaded installer of the Syncrosoft LCC and drop it into this

    > window -> This adds the complete path to the file to the command

    > prompt a.. Now add the overwrite option by typing " /o" after it,

    > notice the space between the path/filename and the "/o" option.

    > ( the capital o = overwrite)

    >

    > A valid command line should look like this now (attachment):

    >

    > "...\any path\SyncrosoftLicenseControlSetup.exe" /o

    >

    > a.. Now press [ENTER], this starts the Syncrosoft LCC installation in

    > overwrite mode.

    > a.. Now reboot your PC, when Windows has finished booting connect one

    > USB at a time, allowing the Windows Hardware Detection to install each

    > key by guiding it to do that automatically.
