  • Crackling noise!

I'm getting a very bad crackling noise when  I play back 2 tracks of the soprano choir in Logic pro 7.I'm using two seperate audio instrument tracks each one, with it's own, Vienna Ensemble plugin. I've tried changing the midi values in the inst. tracks and the plugins and changed the voices but still cracklin.

Oh, and I'm not using any other plugins like reverb or delay

    please help

    thanks

    Tony

  • Hello Tone,

    more information please.

Which machine? Which OS? How much RAM is used? Does that happen with normal VI´s as well? Why would you instantiate 2 Vienna Ensembles for 2 instruments?

The more you tell us, the better we can help!

    Best,

    Paul

Edit: Which audio device? Which latency?

  • Hi Paul,

I'm using  G5 OSX 10.4.11, 6GB ram, this dosn't happen with my Vienna Inst in ESX24, This is the first time I've used the VE plug-in. What I'm trying to do is run 2 instances of Soprano perf. legato. and can't get the voices to worked independently with one VE.

I  know I must be doing something terribly wrong!

  •  Hi,

VE crackles often for me as well. When it does it seems to affect all the digital clocking in my sequencer (DP 5.13), making all my digital audio crackle. Then I hit the Preferences button and close it for each VE instance (I'm running 4). It seems to reset how VE is clocking. Problem solved, at least for me.

I've tried hitting the preference button and get the message: "In service mode. No audio/midi settings are availabe", still crackling!

  • This seems to work: clicking the Vienna Ens button in the  corresponding Inst. track, in the Logic arrange window  that in turn, brings up the little server interface window and then ticking the box for "synchronous Processing".

Thanks for the feedback Stu, but I guess it's a case of different equipment - different solutions!

  • Glad to hear you've got it working, Tony.

Certainly every platform is different - we've always got to find our own workarounds for these quirks...
