    Hi everyone!

    I'm new here......I've been reading the forum a lot in the last few days and i'm seriously interrested in buying the VSL products!

    I've been gathering informations about the VSL products and the ''how to'' and ''what to'' buy first!

    Looks like I need a USB KEY per computer....but i was wondering what VSL library I should buy first!

    I want a pretty basic and standard sample pack!.....So i guessed that I could buy the VSL SPECIAL EDITION STANDARD?

    Am I right?....or do I need a different  library as a startup?

    I'm currently using KONTAKT 2 but i will up grade to KONTAKT 3 with the KOMPLETE 5 collection!

    I just want to buy one good pack and work with that until I have a better idea of what other library I would need!

    Olivier, If your are doing orchestral works, do not seek for other orchestral sound. VSL is simply the best! I'm owner of Kontak 2 and since I got SE ext. library I do not use kontak2 bundel any more. For personal use SE ext. and SE+ is the best. For professional use, go to The Cube...     Oh... I think, the PLUS-Extension is a big step further towards a professional setup!!

    But don't throw k2/k3 away. It's still a great samplesoftware with which you can add additional instruments, that are not included in the VSL libs. 

    Olivier, I too recommend to go for VSL SE std first and if you want to improve your possibilities, go for std plus or if you need more instruments go for the extended package later.

    And to get more into detail someday you are always able to purchase packages like chamber strings or appassionata strings or so...

    VSL offers a lot of options to start with a small gear and expand as needed!

    Thanks a  lot for these answers!

    There's just sooooo many options with VSL products that I don't want to buy something that will need another library to work with!

    So the startup is the VSL SE std.....and if i want to expend...i can go with the extended  SE standard  !

    Btw i'm not really a composer...i'm doing sound design and post production work mostly....I just want to have a good / basic orchestra setup just to be able to handle a wider range of work!

    Just to make it clear. There ISN'T an "extended SE standard" :)

    you have:

    - SE Standard (the basic SE instruments set)

    - SE Extended (more Instruments added to SE, that are not present in SE std., e.g. Chamber Strings Basics and Appassionata Strings Basics...)

    - SE Standard PLUS (additional articulations to the instruments of SE Standard like e.g. trills for strings+flutes) 

    - SE Extended PLUS (not released yet, but obviously will contain additional articulations to SE extended)

    P.S.: Just start with SE standard, play with it, then ask again what to purchase next ;)
