procedure for legato

I was wondering if someone at VSL could suggest a working procedure on incorporating the legato tool into previously recorded midi tracks.

One thing I notice on the cellos for example is how the sustain/espressivo with release sample combination instrument is so wide-ranging and expressive in its sound I could very well use it for almost everything. And so to incorporate the legato tool I assume I would add the mod wheel control for removing the attacks and at that point the legato tool would create a bridge between the notes. But would these notes have to be more separate to give it room? To emulate a legato before, on libraries without any true legato, I always ended up with a slight overlap of release of preceding note with attack of the next note. Would this get in the way of the legato tool's bridge and have to be removed? It wouldn't be that hard to do in a piano roll view or event editor. Obviously it would be easier to figure this out if I had the tool but don't yet so I am trying to plan for how to go about re-recording these tracks in some kind of efficient manner.

Any other practical tips you might think of would be greatly appreciated.

It should not be a big deal to apply the legato tool to previous programmed tracks. Little overlaps between the notes are no problem, because the tool sends a note off in the moment you play the next key.

You can adjust the legato treshold slider to 0, you only need,it when you have little pauses between the notes and you want to keep legato.

The release time slider could also be set to 0, it delays the note original note off, in combination with the treshhold slider it keeps the legato smooth.
If you want to have little overlaps, just put the release time slider to a higher level.
