  • How do you uninstall VE?

Ok. VE - gave it a try - reliability goes out the window, so I want to uninstall! Where is the VE uninstaller on Mac OS X? Can't find it anywhere

  •  Dear bobulusbillman,

an uninstaller for VE is not yet available, please follow this uninstallation routine to remove the software:

    1. Trash the Vienna Ensemble folder from Macintosh HD/Applications

    2. Trash the Vienna Ensemble plugin files from Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plugins/Components and /VST

    3. Trash the VSL Custom Data folder from Macintosh HD/Users/Shared

    4. Trash the Preference files:

    -com.vsl.vsldirs1.plist
    -com.vsl.vslfrontend.plist
-com.vsl.appPresets.plist (if this one is not there, please do not worry!)
    from Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences

    5. Trash the receipt files:

    ViennaEnsembleOSX-2.0.2779.pkg and ViennaEnsembleOSX-2.0.2779.pkg from Macintosh HD/Library/Receipts

    6. Empty Trash

    7. Restart your computer

    8. Reassign your Vienna Instruments Collections in Directory Manager.

    9. Reset your Custom Data Folder in Directory Manager to its old location.

Best regards & a happy new year,

    Maya

  • let me add that unfortunately there is no uninstaller utility available in OS X at all (which btw. i neither understand not consider it to be state of the art), though there are a series of freeware tools available (see eg. versiontracker.com).

however VSL provided an uninstaller for VI already and the same for VE is on our wishlist too ...

as a sidenote: if reliabilty of VE *goes out of the window* (whatever this is in detail) i suggest to check your system, since probably there is something else in the game ...

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • Unfortunately VEP7 demo is not stable and keeps crashing—I don't really need to introduce something into my workflow that isn't as reliable as my DAW.

I can't recommend this application to anyone making orchestral mockups.
