Thanks for your interest! To make a long story short: In principle, the MIR is ready since 2006. There were severeal pieces published already, realized on behalf of its technique (not the finished product, though), as a proof-of-concept.
Two things lead us to post-pone its release: First of all, the Vienna Instruments and their development had priority within the company. This has many obvious reasons; one of the less obvious is that the MIR _itself_ has to rely on very specific features only available with our own player. In this context, we had to expand our team of developers. Sounds easy, but it turned out to be quite some effort for the VSL.
The other thing is that we still have the feeling that the prospective MIR-users won't be too happy when the hi-resolution rendering is acoustically too far away from the real-time preview, due to CPU-performance restrictions. The situation is _much_ better now than two years ago, and we see light at the end of the tunnel. 😉
