hi everyone, i just got my new VSL SE. I am really excited for the Standard plus. I noticed that in the standard plus there are performance repetitions and fast repetitions. Since these names are not like any other standard articulation names, can someone explain what is the difference between the normal articulations like legato and staccato to the ones in performance repetitions. I am assuming that these are just like the others but with more alternating samples, especially the fast repetitions.

What type of articulations are Performance Programs

Hi Hose,
Performance Repetitions are repetitions that have been dissected (5 repetitions for legato repetitions, 9 repetitions for faster repetitions). You can play them in your own tempo and you will always get the real sound of a repeated note with a "round robin" when repeating the notes. The difference to alternate takes of a staccato is simple: staccatos are single notes, played one by one, Performance Repetitions are connected like real repetitions (once a string is swinging or a brass instrument is filled with air, the next note sounds different, as the attack is different).
Fast repetitions are high-speed repetitions that you can trigger and they will play in the chosen bpm of the patch. When you release the key, you will get the last note of the originally recorded fast repetition.
Hope that helps!
Best,
Paul
