Particularly with Appas Strings I, Violas, with Velocity Cross-fade ON (using Mod wheel to control the layers in real time) I have set up portamento switching via velocity. I press hard to get a portamento. Beautiful. I ride the Mod wheel to create phrasing and passion.
BUT: at low volumes (ie Mod wheel down low) a portamento sounds none too delicate - rather it sounds like a louder sample has been filtered and slotted in to create the portamento. The result is a "whoop" in between my soft portamento playing.
Is this a mapping error? Or does the library not actually contain all the necessary samples to get a good SOFT portamento. It happens in particular if you rise from middle C up a minor 6th to A flat on Violas playing softly.
With a grand unison passage (ie viollins, violas, cellos and basses all in unison or at the octave) over a long slow line, the effect is disturbing, and the whole thing sounds a little "filtered" rather like in the old days when a soft sound was generated by taking the top end off a loud sample.
PLEASE tell me this is an error that will be corrected.
Thanks
