  • Release Patches in Vienna Instruments

I've read, and re-read the postings on this, and NONE of them made any sense.

I have purchased the Symphonic Cube, but haven't gotten the extended library.  I'm playing the 11 Tr2_sus_Vib trumpets, and I want them to fall upon release.  I noticed that under the 99Release category, there are 3 different patches that list falls.  How would I go about using them?  I've searched all of the manuals, video tuitorials, and cannot find a thing about Release Patches.  I guess you obviously cannot load them, as they have no sound, and I'm sure they need to be assigned somehow.  You would think this would be in a manual.

    Thanks

  • The fall Release Samples for the trumpet sections are only available in the extended version.

You can find the descriptions in the Brass I  pdf manual on page 156.

  • Hi bbesse. As you've found, the patches in the 99 Release folder don't make any sound if you load them. I too found this baffling - VSL's explanation was that these patches load invisibly and function 'behind the scenes' whenever you load a patch that uses release samples, but because the VI has no way of hiding its patches, we get to see them in a folder but NOT play them as separate patches.

In other words, it's a minor design glitch in the VI. However, it does at least show you what type of release samples are available for the various instruments.

    I hope that makes sense!
