  • VE notes cutting off when exporting mixdown

     Hello,

I'm having trouble with exporting a mixdown from instruments in VE (using Cubase 3 LE, PC version). When I play the track realtime there is no issue, but when I export the song to a wave-file, each note is being cut-off.

Anybody suggestions (apart from upgrading to a newer version, using a Mac or something like that...)

    Regards,

  • After some mail-exchange with vsl, it all comes down to a lack of performance of my PC. To mitigate this problem to some extend, I tried changing priorities: I gave ViennaEnsemble.exe 'real time' and left Cubase.exe at the default 'above normal'. This did the trick.

Better not to forget to change priority back to normal...

So to me, this one is closed.

  • To be complete: The specs of my computer: Pentium IV @ 2 GHz, 512 MB RAM, 40 GB disk internal, 250 GB disk external (firewire), Phonic HB 18 mixer (firewire), Windows XP SP2 etc.etc. Sequencer/recording: Cubase 3 SX LE (came in for free with the mixer, and, being a dutch guy, determined to stretch it to the limit, with some succes, I may add).

Furthermore my 'studio' is equipped with lots of patience. [:D]

  • Hey Frank,

I have exacttly the same problems with cutt off notes. Could you explain more precisly what you exactly  did to overcome that?

    PLEEEEASE! I'm desperate.... [:S]

  • Hi info,

please tell us more about your setup!

  • Hi Paul,

Win XP, AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual 6000+ 3,02 Ghz, 4 GB RAM
Cubase SE3, RMe HDSP 9632 Soundkarte

  •  Hi Info,

The case with my computer is that it isn't really up to what I'm asking from it. Your case (4 GB of RAM, enough processor capacity) in not 'exactly' the same, so may Paul has better suggestion for you, but I'm happy to tell you what I did to circumvent the problem.

To be clear: this 'procedure' works for me on Windows XP. I do not know anything about Mac's, except that they do most of the time hat they are intended to, and even for that, I do not have any personal experience.

In Windows you start the task manager (right click on taskbar -> Task Manager, or start -> run -> taskmgr [enter]).

Go to the 'Processes' - Tab.

Select the process named 'ViennaEnsemble.exe', right click -> Set Priority -> Realtime. A warning appears: click 'Yes'

To revert the priority, same procedure except that you must choose 'Normal'

I hope this will work, although I hope Paul comes up with something better.

  • Hi Frank and Paul,

many thanks for your helps und suggestions!

I managed the problem, in my case it had something to do with ASIO/Soundcard Issues I was able to fix.

Again, many thanks for the help!

I'd like to thank Paul and the VSL Team especially  for all their efforts to produce such outstandings Libs and Programms!

  • ASIO/Soundcard Issues?

I'm asking since i have a the same cut off problems when rendering/freezing tracks. my system shouldn't be the problem (macbook pro, 2gh, 2gb ram) so i am wondering if my sound card driver (m-audio firewire410) could be the problem.

i am working on osx 10.4.10 and using cubase 4.1

this is really annoying since i need to freeze instruments in bigger arrangements since the ram management of vienna instruments (at least on my laptop) is not good at all.. if i "learn" and "optimze" it displays that it was able to free a lot of ram, however, i often cannot load more samples (confusing error messages that the samples could not be loaded) or i get the cut offs - or both.

    help...

  • Hi Gernot,

I played around and with the Asio Configuration of my Soundcard AND with the Plugin Latency Configure of VE. They should have the same value (i.e. 512). Working with VE as VstI, I don't activate the Synchronous Processing ( because activated it needs to much Processor perfomance) until I finally prepare to bounce the Midi Tracks to Audio for Mix/Mastering. I activate the SyncP and push the "Reconnect" button before I bounce . That's working at least for me.

    Good luck!
