  • new vsldaemon.exe slow my opening of session?!

    Hello,

Since I installed the Vienna ensemble, it take now  1.5 minutes more to open (verify the licence) an empty vienna instrument on my PC.!!

.After a lot of investigation, I found that the problem is due to the new vsldaemon.exe. Since I installed the Vienna instrument it's no more the vsldaemon.exe in the windows/system32 that check the licence but the vsldaemon.exe fron the the Vienna Ensemble folder.

So if I overwrite this file with the old one from the "system32" I can open an empty vst vienna instrument instance in 30 secondes as usual?!

So my question is for developper, what are the difference between al these vsldaemon.exe version ?

    Thanks for an explication

  • It's the same on the Mac too .. the new 1.12 version is for some reason slower at startup than the older 1.11. mind you .. I haven't had the nerve to swop around the VSL daemons :P .. but still hopefully they will sort this out soon. Think of it as giving you plenty of time to go make a nice coffee before you begin your session :P

  • Yea - real slow here as well.  But eventually it does comes up[;)]

  • Hi Paul, there is one more issue with VI 1.12: on my MacPro, 2.66GHz, 8GB RAM I installed VI 1.12 which I tried to use in conjunction with Digital Performer. Unfortunately, I was not able to load my current DP project anymore because the VSL-Server did crash. I know the project I created was nearly using the maximum amount of RAM (2.8 GB virtual memory, 16.777.216,00 TB Real memory :-): WOW, nice overflow error in the Activity Monitor) with 23 (!) VI instances used in my project, which worked pretty fine with VI 1.11 but not with VI 1.12. Whatever I tried out I was not able to load my project anymore. Then I was trying to reinstall VI 1.11 and I've got a very strange message from the installer, that there is nothing to be installed although I deleted all VI related files manually from my system. At the end I gave up to use the VI 1.11 installer and copied all VI 1.11 files from my other Mac to appropriate locations and got my VI working again. Furthermore, I also can verify that VI 1.12 takes much, much longer to scan the licenses than VI 1.11. -- Soenke
