  • Tambourine

A friend of mine got a job recreating a 30-second extract from an old movie score (for a car ad - is there any other kind nowadays? What about global warming??) and I helped with the orchestration. The piece had a percussion sound dimly sounding in the background - "Maybe some kind of old hi-hat?", my friend suggested.

Actually it was a tambourine - a traditional wooden one with a skin and jingles, not the plastic skinless kind that rock singers wave about. I thought I'd find one in the Symphonic Cube, but looked in vain; the nearest substitute was the 'jingle ring', which, lacking a skin, didn't have the right resonant sound.

Have I missed something? (I always thought tambourine was a traditional orchestral instrument, along with triangle and wood blocks.)

  • Hi Conquer,

there are four different Tamburins included.

The Tamburin belongs to the family of drums, therefor you can find them in the folder:

    D - Percussion Patches / 82 Drums - Toms
