  • strings: up bow & down bow

I own the fantastic libraries solo strings, orchestral strings I&II few days.
    I'm still on learning.
Stupid question: how can I play up bow & down bow articulations?

    Thanks for help,

    [:)] Jovan

  • I don't quite remember, maybe it was between the low C and C#.... but I could never really hear the difference to the point of recognizing the downbow from the upbow. so I stopped bothering...

    Hi Jovan
Bad news: You can't choose up or down bow.
Good news: VI does it for you.
You play a staccato for example. Then VI starts with stac1. If you play another staccato before the first stac-sample has reach its end VI takes the stac2 type. This is my experience. Herb, correct me if I'm wrong.

  • Yeah, I don't know why I thought Jovan was referring to the Pro Ed. That's why I said what I said... [*-)]

    Thanks, what I thougt.
Only a really small problem my occur if you you a melody line for e.g violin, which starts with an up- (or down-) bow.

Not a problem; just make the down bow louder.
