  • VStack vs. Forte

    Dear All,

I will have a couple of dedicated PCs for the Vienna Instruments, although I have only one at the moment. My current setup has Gigastudio, with the Pro Edition loading there. My setup is driven from my sequencer (Logic) and Sibelius, both of which are hosted on a Mac. The PC has an HDSP 9652 card in, which has 3 TOSLink outputs, resulting in 24 channels.

I'm trying to work out the additional software I need to buy, and understand that I'll need a VST Wrapper application on the PC to host the Vienna Instruments. I've looked around a few of them, and VStack and Brainspawn Forte stand out (I know there is plogue and a few others, but I am a little unreasonably dubious about these.

Can anybody tell me the relative comparative merits of VStack and Brainspawn Forte, for a setup like mine? Thanks for your help.

    Kind Regards,

    Nick.

  • Bumpetty bump.

    Any ideas or feedback?

  • yes,

    ...!

    thats the question..

V-Stack is unuasable if you want to use it more than 10 hours or so. after a specific time its not working anymore any you have to restart it.

    forte...

    yes... [:)]

then there are at leats 3 more but there is really nothing which works somhow.

    good morning NI!!!

    Or Tascam???

Just got it to work, so FX-Teleport is a possibility on PC.

  • Since Nick is running the sequencer on a Mac unfortunately FXTeleport is out of the question... I've never used VStack so I won't comment it, but Forte is totally rock solid. It's created primarily as a host for live rigs (and that's how I use it), but the functions should well cover the studio needs as well.

  • Thanks all for the responses.

I decided to go with Forte. It's working well so far (when I remember to switch off the Gigastudio memory optimisations...) [:O]ops:

  • Yes I downloaded Forte and bought it tonight. Seems pretty cool....

  • I am on Cubase (Steinberg) SX 3.1.x - for simple intergration should I just use the Steiberg V Stack product? Or is there now advantage to doing so?
