    Will it be possible to use one of the 3 or 4 layer dynamic brass patches, say the trombones, and go from the those to STACATTO bones with VI automatically choosing stacatto if the note length is short enough?

    Trying to get a handle on all this...

    Will it be possible to easily shift a patch a semitone or wholetone? I ask this for the trick having violins or solo woods playing in unison without phasing.

    Tom, an option could be to use "Velocity" as a dedicated switching controller.
    For example, you use velocity Xfade sustains on one cell, and a staccato patch on a second cell. And as switch controller between this two cells you define Velocity.
    That means, at a dedicated velocity level, for example above 100 you are triggering the staccatos, below you are trigger the sustains. Volume and Xfade is controlled by any continous controller, for example Modwheel, so the Velocity strength won't effect the volume.
    In this case not the note length is defining the articulation, but the velocity level, which is a very powerful feauture, especially if you are in Velocity Xfade mode.
    In a 2nd video tutorial season I'll feature this feature.

    PolarBear, if you use Cubase as your sequencer its possible to have a midi track offset by a tone/halftone so (I believe) anything that's played on that track is offset during playback- this should work, if I'm understanding your problem correctly.
