  • Pual,

I am correct that my upgrade cost and path from 1st edition VI are not related to time or any sales? in other words I don't have to buy during the current sale ending in Jan. to save any money.

I'm not sure if I understood your post correctly, anyways: If you have First Ed. COP now, you can save money with the current sale when you plan to upgrade to the full SC at a later point.

I forgot you are US citizen... see US$-quotes further down.

If you have First Ed. COP (or any product combination from First Ed./Pro Ed. should be enough afaik, haven't checked the discount calculator for all these possibilities) and upgrade at 35% off to Pro Ed. COP you'll save some money over buying the full SC at a later point missing the sale. Upgrade from First Ed. COP to Pro Ed. COP is EUR 1.355 with the current sale, and from Pro Ed. COP to full SC you'll pay EUR 5.410, totalling in EUR 6.765 - whereas upgrading from First Ed. COP to full SC directly without using the sale price on the Pro Edition is EUR 7.550 according to the discount calculator. So there is a difference of EUR 785 to save.

    Hope this helps,
    PolarBear

    PS: US$-quotes:
$1.495 First Ed COP -> Pro Ed COP
$6.430 Pro Ed COP -> full SC
    ----------
$7.925 vs. $9.005 First Ed COP -> full SC (directly)

So there's $1.080 to save for you with the current sale.

  • Bump! [:D]

  • Absolutely correct, Polarbear, as always, thanks.

Vagn, I´m not sure what your question is...

  • Ok, I will simplify it. [:D]

    1. Will there be VST made for both Mac and PC?

    2. I tried the Discount Calculator and could only get the price to be 9200 Euro for the full package for a new buyer like me. Is this correct, ie. is there no "early bird" discounts for new buyers?

  • Hi Vagn,

right now it is VST for PC and AU for Mac, and of course standalone on both platforms.

VSt for Mac is not ready yet, but of course we will do our best to support as many formats as possible.

The early bird offer can be found here:

  • just as a sidenote ... apple recommends and encourages all developers to use AU only for compatibilty and performance reasons

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • Thx for your replies guys.

Im afraid that settles it for me, as AU only on Mac is the ultimate shaft for us ProTools users. [:(] I had really hoped to get my teeth in this one, and hoped there would have been a workaround with a VST-RTAS wrapper to get it inside ProTools, but that is ofcourse out of the question now. Can u say anything about when it would be realistic for u to release the Mac VST? First or second half 2006?

  • There will be some kind of ProTools compatibility in the course of 2006, I just can't say what format it will be.

  • Sounds great Martin. So if I buy the VI cube, or just parts of it, are u planning a free/affordable crossgrade to the ProTools format?

  • Yes, you'll be able to download the installer with the new engine as soon as it gets available. Depending on the version number (1.5, 2.0 or whatever, I don't know) it will be free or available at a small upgrade fee.
    Cheers, Martin
