  • First demos of my first Impulse Response library

    Hi all,

I have posted some initial demos of my upcoming (commercial) IR library on www.samplicity.com

Hope you like them! Have fun.

    Cheers,

  • Thanks for the piano, what are your reverb settings ? The Bösendorfer isn't my favorite though, a bit "hammer-klavier'ish"

The clarinet is really good and I realize I have to work on this to improve sound quality.

    Thanks for sharing, Jorgen.

  • Thanks Jorgen,

The demos are simply "dry", with the reverb bus muted, or "mixed", with the reverb bus enabled. The amount of reverb is related to the instrument used and to the impulses responses used, so it does not really make sense to give figures in terms of xx dB dry and yy dB reverb. There is no EQ on the reverb bus. Convolution plugin used is Pristine Space, sequencer Logic 5.5 on PC.

The first demos will be for orchestral instruments and "Hall" type of impulses. I will also make some demos for pop/rock instruments and use plates and rooms, etc.

There are no other plugins used, apart from single, fixed EQ in the master bus, removing some 2 dB of mid frequencies on all demos.

Funny that you think the clarinet is good, I spent quite a while on tweaking the notes yesterday, and was finally a bit disappointed by some notes (especially in the perf programs) that stick out with too much instrument noise... I tried to replace them as much as possible with individual short notes, which gives some unwanted "anti-legato" effects. [8-)]

Oh yes, I did use one other plugin: the Waves S1, to narrow the stereo image of the clarinet and the French Horns.

    Cheers,

    Peter

  • Hi Peter,

Can you talk more about the original reverb unit you are using to create these impulses. Why did you choose it? What is the principle behind it? Why is it famous?

    Thanks,
    Jay

  • TC Electronics System 6000 - for trademark reasons I do not officially mention it on my website.
