  • The things I miss in VSL

I'm a recent user of VSL, I have the Cube Pro Edition. I like very much the sound of the library but to play with a keyboard I find some aspects of it not so good, specially the strings and brass.
In the strings I miss the glissandos and bend notes, and instead of keyswitch, it would be better to play fast passages, to have a program with alternate up/downstrokes. Also the vibrato could be controlled by the modulation wheel.
Regardig brass I miss mute trumpets and trombones and also glissandos and bend notes.

  • All short notes do have up an down bow alternation mappings.
They have "1+2" labeling at the end.

The glissando and portamento/bending) stuff ist part of the performance set. There you find portamento for all strings for all intervalls, further glissandi for olo Violin, Violin ensemble, solo trombone, trombone ensemble, solo horn, horn ensemble and clarinet.

You can find detailed articluation lists in our Shop.
Here you have the link of the Pro Edition Performance Set articluations.

    Muted brass are in production.
Maybe there will be some free downloads available for our registered Pro Edition users.

  • Muted Brass? That's not Christmas - that's heaven.

  • Dave,

I believe 'Heaven' is muted brass AND a harp. [:D]

    Oh my Herb,

That would be so appreciated. Thank you in advance for even thinking that. Free or at little cost, I'd love to have another octave higher on the natural violins, and muted brass. That's awesome about the muted.

    Thanks,
    Evan Evans

  • WOW!

This is exciting... Will these be a Horizon product also, so that we non-Pro Edition paupers can play along?

I also hope there are plans for stopped horns. It's strange how difficult they are to find... I don't get it. But I take it, since this IS a VSL product after all, that you guys will have thought of pretty much everything, and this will not just be a couple of muted trumpet patches, but wil include different types of mutes, etc.?

    good news, regardless!

    J.

  • I am presuming either a comprehensive mutes set as a Horizon product, or at least a basic standard set for a free update.

    Standard would be:

    Straight Mute (Trumpets)
    Hand Stopped (Horns)
    Straight Mute (Trombones + Tuba)

In the comprehensive set I'd expect additionally:

    Bucket Mutes
    Copper Mutes (For Brilliance)
    Solo Mutes
    Cloth Mutes
    Playing Into The Stand
    Harmon Mute
    etc.

I would very much hope we are getting "Playing Into The Stand". As obscure as most people think that is, IT IS NOT. It is found in much literature. The lack of Bb Trumpets makes me worry somehow that fundamentals like this may be missed.

    Time will tell.

My fingers are crossed that this time, no stone will be left unturned.

  • well, is there any pool of witch update VSL users need the most ?
Perfect flutando legato for strings ?
Is the bass flute near ready ? (used in so many soundtracks…).
Actually, with the Pro Performance Edition, I'm not able to have a basic sounding string set for the movie music needs.
The Ktbass sound a lot weird, and the cellos are too loud.
If anything like the Sonic Implant, as a perfect legato was done, I would pay again for that update.
How are the decisions made inside the VSL team to choose what the next updates will be ?

    Thanks for your answers
