  • Problem with library location

I'm new to VSL and recently bought a couple of products from the Black Friday sale. I have all my VST instruments on an external 4TB USB SSD. Because i use both Mac and PC i have my SSD formatted to exFAT.

When i installed the instruments on my Mac Studio it would not let me install it on my external SSD drive, there was a message pop up saying it doesn't support the format so i had to install it on my internal Mac drive which is very limited in free space. What i need to know is, if i install it again but this time use my PC to install it so it would presumidly install on to my SSD without issiue?. Will i still have this problem if i delete the library from my mac and point the software to the SSD location?

  • Hi Chris! It does not matter whether you install content through a Mac or PC - the Vienna Assistant does not allow installation into an exFAT drive.

    Also, have a look here:
Forum topic: Why is there no exFAT option in VA?

The Vienna Assistant allows you to locate already installed content via the menu ("Add existing Library"), and you can also comfortably move the library via right-click ("Move" or "Copy"). But that does not change the fact that exFAT is not compatible with our current player builds.

    Best,
    Andreas

  • Thanks Andreas, I had no idea that exFAT wasn't ideal for vst libraries I've never had any problems with mine.
