  • Google analytics???

Lately it seems that the VSL forum webpages take forever to finish loading.
Safari tells me that an item from www.google-analytics.com is still busy (!!)

    What is this?

    Regards - Colin

  • google analytics www.google.com/analytics/home/ is an advanced analyzing tool for websites which is using a little javascript at the bottom of each page. eg. it allows us to find out why some information pages might not be found as we would wish ... possibly your browser settings do not allow to access this script, which basically originates from another domain as vsl.co.at. we have implemented it since almost a year now and didn't notice any performance issues so far.

the slowness of the forum is unfortunately based on the used software and especially its awful search-function. we are testing a very promising alternative solution since a while and so far it looks we can use it when we move the website on another server.

i personally prefer to browse the forum without the navigation of the surrounding website using http://community.vsl.co.at/

  • Strange....as you know, I had problems even posting at all yesterday. Seems to work now.

Thanks for your help and interest

  • thanks for letting us know and providing the details i've asked you for.

especially the result from our reflector turned up your provider (or his upstream-provider) is routing content of websites through, actually two, transparent caches and at least one of them might have been temporarily misconfigured.

it took even AOL (which are using such *mirrors* actually spread worldwide) some time to get their stuff working about a year ago ...

hope your connection to our website returned to *normal* meanwhile, although a runtime of average 390 ms from vienna to your location (which i've measured today) is far away from *normal*, even japan (via US) is below 300 ms

    all the best, christian
