I really do appreciate your help. You guys have been very forthcoming and open about the situation - which is more than I can say for some other companies. It sounds like C4 left you guys in somewhat of the lurch considering they dropped functionality for vst 2.3 and lower. Sounds like they put out the product and you guys now have to write code for this to work. Steinberg is telling me that it's a VSL problem. Either way, I want to get this resolved and I appreciate your help.

Hi all,
Steinberg Austria did some tests for us and confirmed that they didn´t encounter any problems when loading Vienna Instruments in Cubase 4 either.
Make sure that you have OS 10.4.8 installed and please get the latest update from the Steinberg Server (Cubase 4.0.1.2074), moreover it might help to check out the following:
1) Is VST2 plug in manager active? (picture1)

M a y a, is this procedure advisable for Cubase 4 on a PC as well? (I am experiencing a number of glitches with VI in Cubase 4 on a PC which only happen when used in conjunction with Cubase 4).
Thanks in advance

Yes it is also advisable for Cubase 4 on PC. However we are unable to run tests on ourselves until we get our copy of Cubase 4 from Steinberg.

of course you know we have to purchase a lot of software and in most cases several copies - sometimes it is easy to receive software from overseas and sometimes it can become a tiring process (delivery and toll issues). also we would prefer to receive NFRs or developer versions directly from the manufacturer - on one hand to receive qualified support (or at least an *open ear*) and on the other hand to motivate the manufacturer to test our products vice versa.@Johnkenn said:
Of course, you guys could order C4 from Sweetwater and have it by the first of next week... [*-)]
many companies are very interested in compatibility ...

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds. -

Many thanks. If only the Steinberg Moderators/Employees participated in their forum in the positive way the VSL crew did!

Just got back into the studio and installed C4 and latest VI VST on the MacPro. I can confirm that it doesn't work in C4, although works fine in standalone mode.
In C4 when you try and launch the VI window you just get a small window as per the picture below:
Other plugins like RMX are working fine.
Let's hope we can get a fix to this soon.
Cheers
Tim

I have been using Cubase SX 4 on a Windows machine for the last month and have noticed a few interesting bugs, some of which I'm sure are VST 3 related, although the VI's orchestral strings have posed no problems. However, I recorded a MIDI track using the NI B4 II organ, and overdubbed controller data for the drawbars. Then I dropped the track to a stereo audio file without issue. When I wanted to make a few changes to the original MIDI track and redrop I discovere that the controller data, which looked fine, was playing back very badly- destroying the playability of the performance complete. I kept the notes, erased the controller data, and redid it, and things were fine. Perhaps this kind of issue is having with VI on the Mac side.
