Use VI on multiple computers? That is, how do you get both computers to function like a farm. One the Master and One the Slave. Is there an economically efficient way of doing this, without being too laborious?

How do you, . . .
-
1) Both most have Vienna Key ! (important)
2) The master computer has the sequencer and is linking via midi with the slave.
3) The slave computer most have :
- Midi interface (to receive from the master) ... Musiclab MIDIoverLAN works too.
- A (good) audio card (to send the audio) ... here, all connected on a mixer and a DAW.
- A software to host your VI ... you have different options like Sonar, FXTeleport, etc.
4) All drivers up to date !
So, this is my setup. I don't know if I've forgot something but anyway, it's a good startup [:)]
Take care

If both computers are Macs you can send MIDI from the master computer to the slave via ethernet - - there is a built-in network driver ins OS 10.4.x - -so you don't need to purchase additional MIDI interfaces or software. You might, however, need to purchase an inexpensive ethernet switch and give each computer a fixed IP address. (There is an article on how to do this in Nick Batzdorf's excellent magazine, Virtual Instruments." Then, as Syquest suggests, you will need a software host and audio interface for the host. One inexpensive software host is Plogue Bidule. Check out their website: http://www.plogue.com/
