    Does anyone have any real world specs for performance with the VI and a Quad; and VI and Mac Pro. I am hearing that Apple exaggerated the therotical specs for the Mac Pro and that in fact, under certain circumstances, the Quad will outperform the Mac Pro. Is use with VI one of them?

    Just thought I'd try to confirm before shelling out money on the Mac Pro.

    If every dollar counts for you, get the G5, but in reality you should not buy into PPC technology now that Intel is here, in my opinion. The Mac Pro is significantly more powerful for a number of reasons other than just processing power, and it is the platform that will continue to get performance enhancements. Quad G5 owners only just got an update for logic giving them more processing power out of the Quads after a year wait, and the general outlook from apple seems to get that they want to forget PPC customers as quickly as possible. Go with the current platform I think it's a superior platform anyway for a lot of reasons. Last I saw, the Quad G5's were more expensive than a new mac pro anyway at least on the apple store online...
