  • Cubase 4 - Win x64 ??

    Hi
I've been a Sonar user since the beginning - but I'm thinking of switching
to Cubase. I really like Sonar - but the score section really sucks and
the VST integration is not 100%.
But Sonar come's with a real 64 bit version, capable of running on x64 and address huge amounts of memory.

My question to the Cubase users of this forum is:

Can Cubase run on a Win x64 platform and use large memory addressing?
    ( > 4Gb )

    Any comments are most welcome.

  • Until all the sample libraries are updated to 64bit spec then this question is rather meaningless. it will happen eventually, when VST3 is released, but until then the best that you can hope for is up to 4GB in Win64.

  • I'm pretty sure its possible to utilize large amounts of memory in Sonar x64, loading several instances of say VI or other plug-ins.

Possibly up to around 3.5Gb. However, for "large" amounts you'll have to wait for Vista.
