I wonder why it doesn't work for you. Putting out a magazine, we live on .Mac (and iChat).

ichat is great, but you don't need dot mac to use ichat... well there is a lot good about it except for the price and that you can get the core service very cheap, the extraneous stuff is, for me, just that - extraneous.

And there's a lot of patronizing "my" stuff that's excruciatingly annoying - my home page, my shared home holiday pictures, my coloring book, my crayons...

But the thing about it is that it's so easy to deal with. When someone is having trouble sending something to you, you just tell them to open your Public folder under the Go menu. Plus the file system is the same as the ones on our Macs, and that makes it easy for us.

So we put up with the extraneous baby stuff and pay a little more.
