  • Hi,

are there gods of music at all? I know the Greek muse, Terpsichore. Then there's Pan with his panpipes, who often accompanies Bacchus on his drunken forays. In Indian mythology, as far as I know the nearest to a god of music is Krishna.

That's all I know, hope it helps a bit at least ...

    Cheers,

  • Dear sirs
Baccus is a God !! Wholly #$%^&. But I don't think he's drunken. It might of been his great grand god. But the present day god is very much productive. I love the way he uses the violins runs.

  • Hmmmm........

Beethoven might be a worthy addition....

    LOL!
    Very funny, guys.

Yeah, Beethoven would definetely be a worthy addition. But then again, so would Wagner, etc.

But now, seriously, who are the Gods?!?!?! [6]
I need this info for a Play. The research I´ve done leads me to myriads of pages with wonderful pictures and stories, but I just want the names.

  • God is dead anyway.

  • unfortunately in german i tumbled across this (paragraph 2. Chelys):
    http://www.musikarchaeologie.de/altgriechische_musikinstrumente.html
the Chelys (lyre) was invented by Hermes, later donated to his brother Apollon, who was from now on _the_ god of music ... hermes then invented the Syrinx (pan-flute) for himself as replacement
    christian

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.

No he's not, so don't panic.

He's simply gone from single malt to blended!

  • Besides being more well-known as the God of Archery, Apollo is also the God of Music (and the Arts in general) in Greek Mythology.

  • Scandinavian/German(Norse): Bragi is generally accepted as the god of music, though he's primarily known as the god of poetry.
    Roman: Apollo or Apollo Helios
