  • I'm on OSX, and the installer doesn't do anything, when finished it says "0 Files Were Updated." All of my VIs are in the Directory Manager of course.

What am I doing wrong here?

    Thanks
    Tom

  • Hi Tom!
I've just updated my Strings and Woods (on MacOS X.4.7)...

Here my "sequence" (hope can help!):
    1- lunched the VI updater
2- answered "yes" to the first question
3- lunched (just lunched and no one of my folders was "highlighted" in DM) the Directory Manager
4- pressed "ok" on the installer's window
5- both, finally, has "3 Files Were Updated."

    Best wishes...
    R

  • you're lunching??? making me hungry [:D]

  • ...YES! I was hungry too! ...and I've eated the... "a"! SLURP! [:D]

  • Tried what you did, still the same result...."Zero Files Were Updated."

    Can't anything be easy???

    Tom

  • just a thought: only collections V03, V06 and V08 need updates (ochestral strings I, woodwinds I and brass I) - if none of them are added to the directory manager, nothing will be updated.

I have the entire VI library. I do not have any of the previous VSL library on my drive.

Obviously, to use the VI library, it has to be in Directory Manager, so ....

    I'm confused ...

    Tom

  • I also have problems...

NO Vienna apps were running. I even logged out and back in again to be sure. All my libraries *are* in Dir. Manager.

    I tried the Brass updater:
<Scanning for licences>.... opened and closed
Then I just got the spinning pizza of doom and I had to force quit. (I waited a loooooooong time).

Next, I tried opening Directory Manager and LEFT IT OPEN. I then launched the Woodwind updater. Dir Man closed and the updater ran, but I also got "0 files were updated".

I see that VSL Daemon starts up - is this correct? (Checked in Activity monitor)
My system is OS10.4.7 with Syncrosoft version 5.0.3.3 (haven't installed the new one yet - should I?) I have a PPC G5 and downloaded the PPC updaters.

Are there perhaps more details regarding what to do, what to have open or closed etc ? My .dat files are on an external drive. Do I need aliases somewhere?

  • GOOD NEWS: I was finally able to update on my Mac. I had to restart. I will eventually learn that for some dumb reason anything you do with VSL or SIN CRO SOFT....spelling intentional....requires a restart.

BAD NEWS: Upon opening Nuendo after updating, I just received "VIOLINS LEVEL 2 CAUSED THE FOLLOWING ERROR...NO LICENSE FOUND." Of course, I have the license. So it's back to playing games now for awhile before I can get any work done.

    SINcrosoft.

Good name for this wretched protection scheme.

  • I think I will 'live' without updating. Sincrosoft is a joke. We have better things to do than mess with this. Let me know when this is 'really' working.

    [:(]

    Rob

  • OK: It's "really" working.

  • OK, Thanks Herb for the fast reply. I'll give it a try just as soon as I send off this project (few days.)

    Rob

  • Herb....there is a difference between jumping through hoops for 45 minutes and finally getting something to work, and using a scheme which doesn't get in the way, like iLOK.

I really wish you guys would consider how much time your investors (that's us) are losing using this protection scheme.

  • Rob, don't want to force you to update. I also think the updates are more important for our Standard users, because most of the fixes are patches shifted to standard level.

  • Hi-

Two of the Mac Intel updater downloads have a misspelling in the URL which causes them to not download. Can VSL please fix this?

    Here is an example:
    http://vsl.co.at/ipload/updates/Lib-Update_05_Woodwinds-I_060727-OSX-intel.zip

The 'ipload' should be spelled 'upload'.

    Thanks.

  • oops, sorry - fixed

  • Thanks for the update!

Installation was totally easy, no probs.

But: i cant find the new patches in my VIs...?!

    what am i doing wrong?

  • Herb says: OK it's working.

With great respect Herb....not here. I do everything as I'm supposed to and the Updaters simply get stuck and I have to force quit.

    Some help please?

    Regards - Colin

  • If the update takes too much time I would recommend only adding the volume which should be updated exclusively to the Directory Manager.
For example the violins update: removing all other volumes and only remaining Orchestra Violins in Directory Manager.
The process should be faster, because only a small percentage of the whole database has to be scanned before upddating starts.

    best
    Herb

  • Hi Herb,

YES!! Thanks - that works. I had all 10 VI libraries loaded and I suppose I'm too impatient and assumed the installer had frozen. [:O]ops:

You are a scholar and a gentleman - much appreciated.
