hehe .. das scheint im falschen forum gelandet zu sein - ja, die 1.06 kann VST

you will find a version history here soon or in the ViennaInstruments information thread - IIRC VST on MAC was introduced with 1.05, not 100% sure though ...

  • GOT IT!

I had installed the 10.4.6 update again and it didn't help. This time I downloaded the COMBO update as suggested, installed it, and I AM UP AND RUNNING. Hurrah!

Thanks so much for continuing to make suggestions on how to solve this. I suppose a file had gotten corrupted someway....

  • thanks for letting us know. your finding and jbm's hint is very interesting to hear, especially because such OS-updates are automated procedures and i assumed some kind of validation for installed files would be included.
at least the system reported the correct source of the problem, even if one could not interpret the message literally - so we might become more suspicious next time

Yeah just in time too...I ordered Nuendo today and it arrives tomorrow. A weekend of manual reading lies ahead! I'll give a heads up on how it all goes with VI....

    Thanks

Well I will. I've run the gamut.

I used Pro Tools for years, but couldn't afford to go with HD. I sold my Mix system, got LE. Did alright with it on the Mac and using VSL on a PC, but the track and other limitations were too great.

So I sold it, got an RME Fireface and have used Logic for about 3 months. It's been fairly stable, but though I like some things in it, I would PAY to get out of it's erector set approach to recording and mixing. And the automation and the look and feel leave a lot to be desired.

Performer wasn't a great option for me as I had used it for years before it became "Digital" and now it just seems like a program that piled a lot of stuff on top of a lot of really, really old stuff. I know it's a fine program but there are just a million hard to read tiny mini menus and a thousand windows. Anyway, not for me though it has some great points.

So that left me with one last thing to try! I was amazed after doing a lot of investigating how many good things people had to say about Nuendo. I mean I just didn't find ANY bad reports on it, from Mac or PC users. Nothing but praise all around. So, with trepidation and a hard kick to the savings account, I took the plunge.

I will definitely let you guys know how I do as I will have to get it up and running really quickly.

While Nuendo is pretty close being the perfect audio workstation, there are still questions you will run into when you make your first steps. Make sure to visit forum.nuendo.com - a nice and vivid place to discuss these issues, and lots of useful first-hand information.

    All the best,

  • Thank you Dietz, yes I'm sure it will be a great resource. It's always an exciting and nervous time starting with a new platform, but I'm anxious...
