    This is really frustrating, I've gotten no real answers on what is going on and I need to get the VST version of VI up on my Mac.

    I have downloaded the OSX 1.06b-ppc file and EVERYTIME I click on the installer, it opens, then when I click INSTALL, it QUITS.

    What could possibly be going on here?

    no error prompts? just disappears?

    have you tried another version, ie <1.06 ?

    does it occur with other collections?

    is OSX version "tiger"?

    This is OSX Tiger. 10.4.6

    The message I receive is "The Application Installer has Unexpetedly Quit."

    I have been upgrading my VI software all along with no problems until now, and I really want to get the VST version up and running on my Mac....any ideas on what I could do?

    Seems I have deleted older versions, and none are available for download. Is there a way I can get a copy of the software without using the installer?

    tom, i've uploaded a copy of the 1.05 version in your user-folder - please login with your registered email address from the user area and password

    You certainly know more about this than I, Tom, but have you repaired permissions? I get crashes when i don't do this.

    Oh yes, repaired, restarted, rescanned in the License Center, you name it. This is really a bad problem. Again I wonder if I can get the software itself and install it without using the installer....?

    I reinstalled System 10.4.6

    I clicked the installer. It crashed again. Here is the report again:

    Are you using the Mac OS X Combo update or just the 10.4.6 update? Most people have better luck with the Combo update.

    Do you have the latest security updates as well?

    I have tried both versions (Software Update and Combo Installer). Nothing needs updating at this point and I am baffled. I really want to get up and running to use Nuendo and can't unless I have the VST version of VI.

    hehe .. das scheint im falschen forum gelandet zu sein - ja, die 1.06 kann VST

    you will find a version history here soon or in the ViennaInstruments information thread - IIRC VST on MAC was introduced with 1.05, not 100% sure though ...

    GOT IT!

    I had installed the 10.4.6 update again and it didn't help. This time I downloaded the COMBO update as suggested, installed it, and I AM UP AND RUNNING. Hurrah!

    Thanks so much for continuing to make suggestions on how to solve this. I suppose a file had gotten corrupted someway....

    thanks for letting us know. your finding and jbm's hint is very interesting to hear, especially because such OS-updates are automated procedures and i assumed some kind of validation for installed files would be included.
    at least the system reported the correct source of the problem, even if one could not interpret the message literally - so we might become more suspicious next time
