    mmmmm - ever considered therapy?

  • Then why didn't you just say "You can only load 16 instances of Vienna Instruments in V-Stack's 16 slots, and I think that's a problem" in the first place? Instead you asked about MIDI channels, so that's where the discussion went.

Had you used language that expresses what you're trying to communicate and not something different, the people here who are only trying to help [:)] would have answered Yes, that is a limitation of V-Stack, and there are other hosts that have more slots.

However, we don't know whether the percussion player will in fact require lots of instances to cover all the different instruments. Therefore running out of slots may not be an issue. If it is, the answer is not to use V-Stack.

  • Because posting in the Vienna Instruments forum should be context enough to understand why its not relevant how many midi channels each port can handle. It should quite clear what I was talking about [:)]

  • I was answering DG at that point, not you.

  • Lol ok.. sorry[:)]

    Please continue [:D]

Nice try, but if you look back at the thread this all started with "Why do you need Chainer?".

In any case I don't think that it is a problem, as you can use Chainer in conjunction with V-Stack and therefore have access to 160 MIDI channels.

  • Don't make me send dpcon after you. He makes Paul Bunyan look like a wimp.

    And boy is he angry...

Now, now, no need to exercise the George Bush option [:D]

However, back on topic, I reckon that you could probably load the VST of Chainer in the standalone version to get 100 MIDI channels, and therefore wouldn't even need V-Stack. I_have_not_tried_ this_out, so I don't know whether or not it will work.

Must leave for my holiday now (thanks for the villa PaulM; you're a saint).
