  • I present a 'Template for Mixing'.

I've now put on my site, under the VSL section, a big chart showing my mixer, and effects screenshots, in logic, that may help others in their own mixes. This is intended as a guide to show a way to mix. I am going to put up a demo piece soon, to demonstrate the sound from such a mix, but I haven't done that yet.

Anyways, it maybe of some help. I've no doubt that some of you will laugh heartily at my pathetic attempt to mix, but what can I say, I'm trying my best. [:P] Still the best resource out there for learning about mixing is Beat Kaufmanns site (I've quoted him a couple of times of the chart [:D]), but this chart does present a very comprehensive guide to mix structure.

Feel free to comment, disagree or anything. I hope you find it useful.

Follow the below link to my site, and go to the VSL / Studio section.

Hey there. I had forgotten that you'd done this. But I found the pictures very confusing. I don't know how to use all of the midi linking that you've done, and I braely understand what it does so I hadn't really though of those pics as a guide to mixing, but more of a guide to midi routing.

Still, on closer inspection I see that you do show panning and level. Though you may want to use the screen grab tool and take the entire 'Window" shot, to make it easier to see the whole thing. I used the window grabber and omnigraffle to put my chart together.

Anyways, it's all good to see the sharing of mixing knowledge [:D]
