  • we have actually had 3 pc's in our shop, which all crapped at various times, particulary when ever you need them most, and they had not much more to do than run internet explorer for an intranet application and a cash register.... now they're all minimacs, no more problems and all day time for nothing than proper work [:)]

i never got cubase to run on the mac. even with the latest updates. on mac i'm not sure i ever installed an update..

Yeah - blue screen of death with PC's. Stick in a DVD of say, The Mummy Returns into a PC and you'll need a seat belt. Going onto the internet on a PC should carry a health warning.

And why bother with Cubase when you can use Logic? Cubase compared to Logic is bollocks.

Oh dear, someone steal your happy pills?

Anyway, Cubase compared to (or even with) Logic is the dog's bollocks [:D]

  • i remember the frankfurt musikmesse last year, where i spoke to some salesman of steinberg, right after watching the vienna presentation...

i just asked him how about wavelab for mac
he said "no sorry, what for?" right when all the plasma screens at their booth got a bluescreen of death
i laughed and went of yelling "there for!"

    LOL

  • Well,

now we are there - I always said it, please no crosspaltform VI forum - this will only end up in the "I always know it better" PC users will tell what the best hardware is. It is childish, but what to expect from persons using a game-thingy to make music [:)]
It is mentioned on the thread: VST for Mac - so what are all the kids doing here? (I know some do not like any kinds of apartheid - but obviously they love OS fascism. Jeeezzzz....

    Best

  • you tell 'em! LOL well... world of warcraft runs even fine on my mac [;)]

Er, I assume that you're talking about me? Well do a search and find out who was the first one to complain that there was no VST Mac version of VI [H]

You find Logic more efficient than Cubase? Do I understand this correctly? True, I have only worked in Logic for the month that I've had VI, but I'm having trouble doing the simpliest things. I love learning new programs, but cannot seem to crack this one. I have been sequencing for 20 years, since the old comodore 64 days and syntech software. If you have time, I would really enjoy asking some simple questions regarding the program. I realize many people use it effectively, I am not one yet. Do you have time, if so please shoot me an email at jay@jayweigel.com. I would love to ask a few things off this forum. Again if you have time.

    Thanks,

    Jay

He uses Nuendo. If you want to learn Logic then I would suggest this.

    macprovideo.com

    Highly recommended.

  • Thanks Paul, I guess I misunderstood DG. Sorry DG

    Jay

  • unfortunately i have no idea of logic, since i use cubase from the beginning

  • DG, I asked "complained" for a VST Mac some time ago too. Does not understand what that does to the discussion.

I did not have a chance to have a look at the VI yet, and may not for quite some time.

That's good. I presume you maybe got Mastering Logic Pro? You may need to watch it many times and then use it now and again as a reference. Can I also recommend from Macprovideo - Plugins Unplugged. If you are doing anything involving sound to picture their Video Tutorial download is also very good.

Martin Sitter is great fun - but for some reason sounds like he's just swallowed a whole tank of nitrogen. There again - I'm from England. [:P]

Actually I do score to picture, so will get the other video. I tend to enjoy editing in the score editor, any ideas you have on tutorials for that would be appreciated. As explained in the Mastering Logic video, most people use the matrix editor, I just prefer to see the music as notastion. So, any ideas on training for that editor would be appreciated.

  • One of the best placest I have found to get questions answered quickly by knowledgeable Logic users is here:

    http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=771

I switched to Logic a couple of weeks ago from Pro Tools and they have been a super help. I am loving the program.

  • i actually tried a logic demo on a pc once a few years ago, but didn't get quite far with it.... so i hope the cubase vst version of the vienna instruments will be around soon, which is far more usable to me than logic.

and protools is not affordable as you need expensive hardware. i already own sx3 and loads of vst tools so a change would be dumb

  • VST OSX is already in the pipe and will be submitted to test department these days.

    Stay tuned.

    Thanks
