  • Locked drive ?

I’ve just buy a Maxtor Diamond Max Plus 9 120Go, 8MB cache and put all the Complete Orchestral Package on it today.
There is nothing else on it.
And I will not put anything else on it to keep the stream performance.

So, for me that drive is full and just needs a ‘read’ access.

Can we physically locked a hard drive to protect it ? (Virus, intrusions, bad manipulations etc...)

  • this would be possible with SCSI-disks - i havn't seen such a jumper on a IDE-disk since a long time

Physically, no. Virtually, yes to extent. You can Select a file, Right Click, Choose Properties and check the Read-Only box (i.e. non-writeable). The file can still be deleted but not written. You can select many files at a time and open one Property that will effect all of them.

If you look at your Giga files though, you will find that most companies set them to read-only already. Non-commercial (free) gig files though, like G-TOWN, are not set as read-only.

  • Hello, just discover G-Town, thanks, great sounds, do you have other links like that?

The granddaddy of free gigs is http://www.worrasplace.com/
They're not VSL but every gig has it's place.
