Are you telling me you have your hands on VI [:'(]

  • Just came back from a 4½hour trip to pick up the damn thing...

[EDIT] Registration not working here either - which as far as I can gather meansI cant install?

  • Well, after some hours i'm still not able to _use_ them...

Selecting a preset has no effect, i've run the Vienna Instruments Directory Manager, but it doesnt work:
the only instrument i can play is "empty preset", but it doesnt sound at all!

In the manual, its written, that the first launch takes a while, but if something would happen, i could hear the disk activity. There no sign that shows any progression too.
    Just nothing.

Well, i hope things will get better...

  • Hey Happy - how did you get the registration to work? (I assume you did, since it seems you have completed installation)

VSL - Any progress on the registration yet? And why is this even a problem? :-/

  • Hi Happy Tree Friend

if the only entry at the Preset Select page is
"empty preset" (with a red cross on the left) your VI player does not see any content.

"empty preset" is just a function to unload a loaded Preset

you should see folders on the Preset Page, Matrix Assign Page, and Patch Assign page including Presets, Matrix Files and Patch files.

I'm not the tech and install guy, but it could be that your Licence control center is not installed right, or your content is not installed, or the Scan Tool for managing the directories of your content on your harddrive is not setup right.

    best
    Herb

Registration still doesn't work, as far as i know.
But it should work in "demo mode"

So, demo mode is sitting next to the computer and worrying that theres just one available "sound" ("empty preset").

Its a good training for my mental constituition: just sitting without throwing the whole computer out of the window!

  • The problem is registering on your site - It wont accept my key, nor will t let me select any vienna instruments from the dropdown menu.

Only the PC with the vienna key can be installed on, since it has that demomode. But the one with my cubase key needs your site to work so I can type in the activation code.

  • You have 180 free instrument starts on your Vienna Key (dongle), so you can install and run everything without registration.
Please also check out the Quick Start Guide (red sheet) and the manual.

There will be a dedictaed registration area for the Vienna Instruments, you can't use the old one.
However, our tech departement ist just finalizing everything, so the new Vienna Instruments user area should be online this evening.

Hi Herb, thanks for your advice.
The problem is, that i dont know how the different things should work, because i didnt know them yet.

I run the Directory manager and assigned the volume, where sound data is installed.

if i click on "Rescan", this button simply disappears, thats it.
    No activity.

So i dont know, if i should do anything in addition to that and close this inactive program.

The licence procedere should also be allright, i dont know (?)

in logic, the left area says that "the following libs are licenced" and shows all the single parts of the collection.

Selecting one (e.g.: solo violin) by doubleclicking or hitting enter (as suggested), or doublecklicking AND hitting enter or doing this ten times has no effect.

i dont think, there is anything going on like browsing or so...

Great - I hope they make it [[:)]]

PS: I know its a little thing, but I really happy about your installer (working automaticly, asking for the next disk etc). Installing the old products was a pain - I'm happy you fixed it [[:)]]

  • Thanks Christian,

I just get the information that everything is OK with the new user Area.
So we should see it soon.

Paul will also start working on video tutorial where you can watch the whole installation and registration process.
Sorry, that we couldn't support this from the beginning, but this Video only make sense with the activated new User Area.

    Herb

  • Real soon I hope, since Cubase wont launch now, since I havent activated your products yet [:)]

HTF, as i'm technogically challenged i'll ask the obvious stuff, just in case enthusiasm has jumped the obvious. No offence intended.

Firstly, have you had a look from Mac finder to see if the samples and files are installed?

Secondly, if they're installed ok, are the on the same disk as other sample libraries you have? Do those already installed libraries show up and WORK in Logic?

Is your Vienna Key active for the box that has the VI? (Understanding herb's response that registration is in the final setting up stage.)

Have you actually tried using a VI within a track? Does this require a check of midi ports, and audio stream? Do you need to review audio/midi setup?

If i can think of any more, i'll write some more.

Regards, and good luck, Rome was NOT built in a day. But it looked damned good when it was up!

    Alex.

  • Happy Tree Friend,

maybe a silly question, how long did your library installation process take?

WELL: Finally i got it to work!

But i dont know exactly why

I checked the directory manager several times, after that logic crashed 2 or 3 times reporting an syncrosoft licence problem.
I wanted to give it up and wait until registration works, but opening it the 3rd (or 4th) time, it suddenly worked!

    So far installation...

    BUT THEN:

Wow! This stuff is so absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!
I just tried out the solo violin and it makes me stoned!!!

i'll stop posting, i have a pretty cool tool that needs my attention now [[[[;)]]]] [[[[;)]]]]

Thanks Alex for your hints (it was a good hint to mention the hard disk drive - even if it was not the problem - because its new (specially for the VIs) and it _could_ have been a reason!!

    To be honest:
when i played the first notes with the VI i had to think at your sentence about Rome... [:D] [:D]

PS: Herb and the whole VSL Team:

a huge compliment!!! This is a new dimension in sampled orchestra!!!
    Keep on building it [[[[;)]]]]

  • HTF,
You are most welcome, and I'm sure you'll have much enjoyment. Not to mention, never sleeping again, living on cheese on toast, coffee, and anything else within reach!

I suspect your enthusiastic response will be the first of many.....
