Détaché. Procédé d'exécution consistant à séparer nettement l'un de l'autre deux ou plusieurs sons consécutifs. Qualificatif de l'effet de ce procédé. On obtient le détaché dans le chant, par une articulation distincte de chaque son; dans le jeu des instruments à clavier, par le relèvement du poignet ; dans le jeu des instruments à vent, par le coup de langue; dans le jeu des instruments à archet, par le relèvement de l'archet quittant la corde entre chaque note. L. Capet distingue dans le jeu du violon deux sortes de détaché : le détaché souple, qui demande une simple inflexion des doigts sur la baguette, au début de chaque note, et le détaché rude, qui veut une attaque prompte et vigoureuse. En y joignant un arrêt brusque entre les sons, on transforme le détaché en martelé. De toutes façons, le détaché s'exécute sur une longueur de coup d'archet appropriée au mouvement du morceau ou du passage auxquels il s'applique. C'est en se basant uniquement sur ce fait que beaucoup d'auteurs nomment grand détaché celui qui exige toute la longueur de l'archet, moyen détaché et petit détaché ceux que l'on obtient par des coups d'archet répétés, de moindre longueur. On marque les diverses sortes de détachés par des points, des points surmontés de petits traits, des traits horizontaux, des soufflets, des accents verticaux. En ce dernier cas, le détaché devient plus coupant, plus cassant, et prend les noms de spiccato, staccato, sons piqués. Les auteurs varient d'ailleurs dans l'emploi qu'ils font et l'interprétation qu'ils donnent de ces signes. Le rôle de l'exécutant est de les traduire selon l'esprit de la phrase musicale et selon les possibilités spéciales de son instrument et de son intelligence artistique. On appelle morceau détaché tout fragment, complet en lui-même, tiré d'un opéra, d'une symphonie, etc., et joué ou publié séparément.
