  • First Tracks Using VSL

    Hello Everyone,

The following are my first two tracks that I composed using VSL. I was just looking for some constructive comments, as there appears to be plenty of talent and experience on this forum:

  • Some interesting stuff. The strings sound real nice but maybe the brass could use some work. As they don't tend to sound as realistic as the strings, but still nice composition. I'm interested to know what choral samples you were using there.

What was the inspiration behind these, I'm guessing 'World of Warcraft' by the titles but it could be anything. I'm also doing a WoW inspired album.

Could you list the different articulations of string that you used, i'd be interested to know.

Overall nice sound, a little polishing needed here and there but damn nice stuff.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate your feedback. I agree that the Brass needs work, I tend to have a difficult time writing for Brass, as I have never personally played.

For the Choir samples, I used the Miroslav Vitous - Classical Choirs library. It has some pretty nice samples and can do quite a bit more than some of the more mainstream samples (i.e Voices of Apocolapse).

I listen to a lot of game music, the Lord of the Rings soundtrack was wonderful in my opinion. What turned the corner for me, however, was the following composer. I was absolutely amazed at the sound he was able to obtain with a "Giga" orchestra. If you get a chance, listen to Avalance, it is quite remarkable.

For the Strings, I used Strings_ensemble (Strings_sus) patch. For the Martellato String, I used a free SoundFont I obtained a few years back, actually is only 1 MB!

Thanks again for the comments, I appreciate them.
