  • Harp Glissandi in Perf Set

I was hoping for some help in deciphering the detail in the sample file names for Glissandi. For example

    HA_7gl-sl_B-ma
    HA_4gl-sl_mo7-1
    HA_4gl_7V-1

I can follow that the sl refers to 'slow', B major, in the first file. What does the 7gl refer to?

Likewise in the second, 4gl? And mo7: is that the identifier for a minor7 arp?

I assume that 7V is 'dominant seventh', but they can have up to five different numbers following. i.e. 7v-1, 7v-2 etc.

Is there one harp patch that contains chromatic-step gliss performances, i.e. play low C for Cmaj, low D for Dmaj? Or do you need to load 13 different files to get chromatic flexibility?

    Thanks

    Andrew

  • 7 stands seven different keys per octave - the maximum amount which is possible on a harp, because a harp does have seven strings per octave,
so all major and minor glissando scales are performed with 7 strings

for example B major ( the basic scale of a harp)
    B C# D# E F# G# A#

4 stands for four different keys per octave - here three strings are tuned to pairs of the same key - for example

    C - D# - D# - F# - F# - A# - A#

each string does have a pedal which tunes all corresponding strings a half or whole tone step up

    in this example

B is pedalled to C (half step)
C# is pedalled to D# (whole step)
    D# remains D#
E is pedalled to F# (whole step)
    F# remains F#
G# is pedalled to A# (whole step)
    A# remains A#

  • Thanks Herb, that makes perfect sense now.

Was I right in assuming 7V=dominant seventh arp and mo7=minor seventh?

What is the difference between a 7V-1 and 7V-5 for example?

There is no single combination setup that gives arps corresponding to the key pressed (like Concert Guitar chords)?

  • these are five different tuning versions:

    HA_4gl_7V-1
    B D# F# A

    HA_4gl_7V-2
    C# E# G# B

    HA_4gl_7V-3
    E G# B D

    HA_4gl_7V-4
    F# A# C# E

    HA_4gl_7V-4
    G# B# D# F#

  • Heh .. maybe so .. But I still play it like a piano ;D hehe
