  • Sibelius users might be interested in this

I just wrote a Sibelius Plugin that handles VSL. You can read about it here:

    http://homepage.mac.com/dbudde/Plugin

It is designed to work with Kontakt 2 and currently only handles the VSL samples that are distributed with Kontakt 2. If/when there is an release of Opus or other sample collections for Kontakt, I may update the plugin to handle these as well.

  • You are the greatest person ever.

My infinite thanks. Much reward shall there for you...

  • opus is already available for kontakt, so I believe. In fact the whole horizon series is.

  • The plugin assumes the existence of the Kontakt scripts which are only available with the samples distributed in Kontakt.

  • Looks VERY good! Compliments. [:P]

unfortunately I can't work them since I use Sibelius with GigaStudio (and VSL Opus and various Horzion sets). [:'(]

Likewise - I was so excited by this thread [:D] and then felt so let down [:(]
there must be ten times the GS/Sibelius users than Kontakt/Sibelius.

I also got very excited when sibelius where announcing there new sound libraries - I so wanted it to be a collaboration with VSL. I also use GPO and look forward to the new package and will continue to be patient for the day (which will surely be within a few years) when sibelius/VSL can work seemlessly. [:)]

  • Thanks for the kind words.

For what it's worth, I thought long and hard about other formats. Specifically Logic. But it all comes down to what can meet the objectives. I've followed the VSL products for over two years and was never able to see a way to use them without it being an excruciatingly painful and slow process. My compliments to all the people here that are doing good work with VSL.

Anyway, when Kontakt came out with the capabilities it has, I saw a way to minimize the pain. And having a set of samples included meant I didn't have to spring for a set of samples just to see if I could get something that would do what I want. Now that I have proof of concept, I'm fairly convinced that I'll wait for Horizon to be fully Kontakt compatible before doing anything further.

I just received Kontakt 2 on Oct 4 and have been pretty much working on nothing but this since then. So it came together fairly quickly. I doubt I could have done it at all, let alone this quickly, with any of the other formats.
