  • Win 11 Synchron Player

I have studio One 6.1. I have several projects with VSL instruments only (synchronized special editions). I updated my os to win 11; after the update all project running on my pc produced 100% cpu usage and started crashing.
On win 10, my template barely uses 10% cpu and less than 9gb of ram. I have 64gb of ram and Ryzen 7 processor. I rolled back my os back to win 10 and this problem is solved.
    1) Is Synchron player in studio one supported on win 11  ?
    2) In studio one I also noticed that Synchron player GUI is quite unresponsive when changing an instrument.
There is any fix planned for Synchron player to improve this behavior ? It is really disappointing. It should just work .3) sometime when starts ilook cloud, I get the message that ilook is under maintenance. Really ? What I supposed to do in the mean time ?

    Hope these questions get answered.

    Thank you.

  • Hi FN,

We are not aware of any incompatibility for our players under Windows 11. Your situation sounds rather extreme (10% > 100%). Something like this would have been reported a LOT... Have you only switched from Windows 10 to 11 - or did you also update VSL components? PACE does announce their maintenance many days in advance - the actual "time-out" usually is very manageable. But you can also consider using a physical iLOK USB key, instead of the iLOK cloud. If you have more information for us you want us to look into, please get in touch with us at support@vsl.co.at.

    Best,
    Andreas

  • Hello,

thank you for your reply. I appreciate your answers. I was not exaggerating when I said that the CPU went to 100%. I only switched to win 11 (VSL libraries were up to date) and my VSL template was not playable anymore. VSL libraries are up to date and HW components are all compatible with win11. Since everything works great on win10, I am not upgrading to Win11 at the moment for this issue, Given your answer, I assume that no many users have reported this problem. I would suggest to keep this as potential issue on VSL backlog. I further noticed unresponsiveness of the synchron player in studio one and kindly ask to release an update if other users have reported this second problem. Keep up with the good work !
If other users have one or both these problems, please expand this thread with your experience. Thank you for sharing your experience !

  • Hi FPaolo,

I'm a strong promoter concerning the iLOK usb key. You say you feel the cloud being a much safer place to safe licenses. I'd say the contrary. You have no control over the cloud nor the internet. If the internet fails you're f*cked. And what about some foreign governmental hackers? Get a iLOK key put it in the back of your (desktop)computer and leave it there. Check for updates on the internet and turn the internet off! Start making music without some one "looking" over your shoulder. Cause remember: The cloud is just somebody else's computer!

    Regards:

    Willem
