  • How do I unload all samples from RAM in VEPro?

Hi guys, I'm making a template right now. I'd like to have all my libraries in a big VEPro project all hooked up and ready to go, yet completely unloaded from memory —not taking any CPU or RAM from my machine. Is this possible? I see that I can "disable" instances, and this frees up CPU, however RAM is not effected.

    Would appreciate any guidance!

  • bumping this thread. Anybody know if this is possible?

  • Exactly, I was wondering the same thing just now. I deactivate an instance believing that it will free up ram but not at all!

  • In fact, it might be possible to "purge" banks from kontakt. I am inquiring. I'm trying to find an option to unload (purge) all banks, for example 16 in a kontakt instance

  • It seems that there is no purge function in VEP, so the trick is to purge all Kontakt instances and save the VEP project,

Thus at the opening a minimum of ram will be occupied and the samples will be loaded only if you play the notes.

To also avoid having to purge all the time, someone created a custom keyboard shortcut, which allows you to purge everything with one key!

I haven't been able to try yet.

In any case it would be nice to have a PURGE function, unless it exists?

  • Hi!

Disabling a track or instances does unload those samples from the RAM. We are currently looking into an issue that seems to prevent that from happening for 3rd party VST3 plugins.

  • Thanks Andreas,

Indeed it is an essential maneuver I think, especially in very large configurations.

Thanks for coming back. For the moment I minimize to the essential qualitatively

    Looking forward to ;)

  • Friends I found a very useful solution to this RAM problem!

A solution to purge all Kontakt VSTs in your VEP Server in 1 click and recover RAM easily!

Thus, once completely purged, you save your VEP Server session with all your Kontakt purged.

You should halve the RAM used.

In addition to the opening of your VEP Server session, the loading will be faster since all VST Kontakt are purged in advance.

    How to do:

It's very simple (see jpeg), you go to one of your VEP instances once it is open, then you go to any Kontakt player.

Click on the "floppy" tab > Purge All Instance > Purge All Samples.

Wait a bit... and when the process is finished, all your VST Kontakt player present in your VEP server session will be purged.

    Then save.

    :)

    It is very simple
