Hi,
I'm looking for a few guidelines on best practices when it comes to sample libraries (from VSL and other providers like Orchestral Tools) with several mic positions available. Here's my question:
What's the safest bet when it comes to choosing mic positions to work with MIR Pro 3D? What mic positions would work best in MIR Pro 3D?
Any hints or insights on this issue would be most welcome.

In classical orchestral venues, your best bet is the Main Microphone in Conductor's position, or directly in front of the stage. Add Secondary Mics from the next available position to taste, for more spatial enveloping.
For the studios it's "anything goes". It's more a question of your approach - whether you're aiming for width or for depth.
Churches and the like are in-between, they can be used as stages or as huge reverb chambers. 😉
BTW - all those dozens and dozens of Venue Presets I've created for legacy MIR Pro will be available as Factory Presets in MIR 3D soon. I've just been hindered by a handful of well-hidden bugs to convert them in time before release. 8-].

Thank you for the pointers, they're extremely useful to me. And let me just say that every single 3D venue I have (Synchron Stage, Studios & Stages, and Sage Gateshead) sounds gorgeous, especially Synchron Stage A.. As far as I'm concerned, you did an amazing job with MIR Pro 3D.

:-) Great to hear that you like it! Thanks for the friendly words. BTW: If you find the time to try the Church of Pernegg-Venue, then give it a try. It's still sending shivers down my spine when I hear that marvelous space, especially in 3D now, and it's a _very_ versatile Venue that reacts very forgiving to reverb time scaling, too. Maybe my favorite Venue.
