  • VIP price question

    Hi

I'm planning to take advantage of the nice summer sale and buy some Horizon products. Doing this, I have a question regarding VSL's VIP pricing:

If I understand it correctly, the main idea with the VIP pricing is that one shouldn't pay for the same samples twice. I.e. if I buy a Horizon product which contains samples from the Pro Edition for example, I don't have to pay once more for those samples once I upgrade to the Pro Edition in the future.

However, what if one buys Horizon products that does not have samples from the Pro Edition, i.e. one that is "all new content"?

Can I still use those products to get a discount for being a good VSL customer (having bought several Horizon products), or must the samples be included in the Pro Edition in order to qualify for a discount (if upgrading to the complete Pro Ed is my future plan)?

I looked at your discount calculator and although I could see several "all new content" Horizon products listed there, I haven't bought anything yet I don't have any registered products to use it with.

I also did search both the website and the forums for an answer to this question (found one "VIP price" link in a forum post, but it didn't work). Apologies if I missed something obvious. Still, any info on this subject would be much appreciated.

    Thank's in advance

    Cheers

  • Ok, I feel silly now. [[:P]]

Just "registered" and got the discount calculator working (at least I think it's working). Seems this answered my question regarding the "all new content" Horizon products. If I got it right, according to the discount calculator you do not get a discount when buying Pro Ed for Horizon products that don't have Pro Ed samples in them.

However, my findings makes me wonder about something else:

For example, according to the discount calculator, I get a discount on the Pro Ed Performance set from having purchased Solo Strings, but not from having purchased Opus 1 and/or opus 2?

I thought both Opus 1 and 2 contained material from the Performance Set (the Performance Legatos etc). If this is correct, doesn't it mean I still have to buy for the same samples twice?

The exception seems to be if one upgrades to the complete orchestral package (then one seems to get a discount for the Opus material as well).

Does this mean that if I have the Opus package and then upgrade to for example the Performance Set and from there to the Orchestral Cube, I do in fact have to pay for the same samples twice as I won't get a discount unless I upgrade to the Complete Orchestral Package at once?

Sorry for all these silly questions, just want to make sure I haven't misunderstood anything. [[:P]]

  • The discount calculator has all the available discounts so that you get what it shows and nothing more. Herb has stated that there is going to be a more flexible and modular purchasing system for the Symphonic Cube (when ever that will be available) so that we can get a discount for every Horizon library that will be included in the Cube. For Opus 1 owners going to the Complete Orchestral Package is currently the only logical choice as there is no discount for separate parts of the full library which is a shame as I would love to get the Pro Percussion and still have a chance to upgrade to the full library without paying twice for all percussion and three times for the percussion samples included in Opus 1. • Thank's for your reply Janila.

Yes, seems the upgrade options could perhaps be a bit clearer. Especially since this is proudly stated in the VSL Horizon promotion video (direct quote):

"...we offer an upgrade path which guarantees that you never pay twice for the samples you already own".

To make things even more confusing, the above statement is said while presenting the Opus package, the very same product that (if I understand it correctly) according to the discount calculator requires you to pay more than once for it's samples?

Perhaps I've just misunderstood this completely, if so please accept my sincere apologies and do correct me if I'm wrong. I think VSL is great and I'm truly looking forward to buying and using the products. Just want to get this sorted out so I know what is correct and can make plans accordingly. [:D]

    Thank's in advance
