  • Working in VEP/VIP/Syncron with DAW closed?

    Hi All,

This is probably something I should have tried to figure out years ago, but now I must, as it drives me batty lol. And I'm hoping it possible (of course).

Is there no way to be able to use a keyboard/controller while creating, modifying, or just inspirational playing around in VEP when loading samples, cells, new instruments into VIP, Synchron (or whatever else, i.e. EW Play, Trilian...) while the DAW is not running (when the keyboard is connected to the same computer as the DAW), or when doing the same on a slave computer while the DAW actually is (or isn't) running (when the keyboard is attached via USB to the slave computer...when attached to the DAW computer would be even better)?

Even if a sample player is set up to work in "standalone" mode, with options set for the keyboard and audio output, this seems not to work the same once loaded into VEP.

I hope this is an obvious "yes, you can", and I am just a big dummy here lol:)

    Thanks everyone,

    Shawn

  • Hi Shawn,

You can do that with the VE PRO standalone version, and send MIDI the "old-fashioned" way.

With the VE Pro Server, you will have to connect to it via the VE Pro Plug-in, which needs to be hosted in some DAW - which also makes setup and port/channel selection much easier.

    Best,
