  • "Merging" several VEPro-Instances in MIR?

    Hey all,

    I have the following question:

In my VEPro-Template I organized all my libraries in instances which are mostly dedicated to Developer and Instrument, for example:

    Instance 1 - VSL Woodwinds
    Instance 2 - Cinewinds
Instance 3 - Cinematic Studio Brass
    Instance 4 - VSL Brass
    etc.

So per instance I can load up a MIR-Venue and place the instruments (=instrument output) there.
As far as I understand MIR already calculates the "sonic interaction" between those instruments, which frequencies interfere, how much reverb must be added according to position in venue etc.

So when for some productions I would like to use VSL-Woodwinds and also add the Cinewinds Monster low Winds I can place them easily in the venue applying to the VSL and Cinewind-instance each but it seems I can' place instruments from one instances in the venue of the other.
Is this not possible or did I miss something?

  • Hi Havergal,

if you want to use MIR Pro across several instances of Vienna Ensemble Pro (on the same machine) you would have to switch to the "conventional" plug-in version, not the one that comes as dedicated part of VE. Sonically you wouldn't lose anything, but some of the Vienna Instruments-specific automatisms (like Profile guessing) won't work anymore, so VIs might need more manual work.

If you want to keep your workflow untouched you could either save MIR Pro' so-called Engine Settings and import them in other instances. Sound-wise the result would be identical, then, but you wouldn't have all Icons visible on one Venue Map.

To share individual instrument settings you can save and recall Channel Sets within VE Pro's - they will appear in any instance.

    HTH,

  • Hi, Dietz,

thank you very much for your answer! I will try those possibilities out.

  • PS: Maybe I'm pointing out the obvious - but I forgot to mention that there is the actual "File > Merge Projects"-feature available, too, of course. 8-)
