  • New Composition seeking comments

    Hi again,

Today completed a furtherance of my song 'Moonsinger meetings'. This time I have done a (Demo Test) dramatic piece with a Hero theme version of my Moonsinger theme. (This is all inspired by World of Warcraft, the PC game... playing that is).

It's very much a film score piece and the way to look at it is, Seeing the bad guys,... you know there's one good guy fighting against odds,.... battle heats up.... the Moonsingers arrive... they truimph.

Kinda no brainer, but whoever said that it had to be anything else ;D

I enjoyed making this piece as it uses some odd time signatures which I have never used before... fear mainly!!. And the overall sounds I think is impressive. Please feel free to comment, and I'm looking for input about my compositions. (Can some of the VSL guys please comment too, I'd like to know especially what you think of the sound achieved here).

Hmm, well I just tried it and it worked, so I don't know what to say ;P
Try it again, it's obviously a case of your browser not detecting the site proprely... happens to me all the time with the World of Warcraft site, I have to refresh a few times before it comes through.

But I assure you that the link works.

    ;D

  • Maybe I was trying to get "meetings" rather than "heroes", by accident. Just listened successfully to both. Both very good.

Is the treble music at about 0:30 the moonsingers arriving? It sounded oddly transsexual or something, to search for an image, in the context of the heavy foot scuffing going on before. You get effective combinations of sounds as the music continues. Overall or maybe just toward the end, it begins to seem that it needs a bigger sweep, probably by backing off on texture and dynamics and then increasing strongly.

    Good work.

  • This is pure music to the ears. Beautiful sound to this, superb work, a great listen it was......

  • Hetoreyn-- I too am a fan (addict) of the World of Warcraft. Your piece fits nicely into that flavor. Enjoyed it.

    Best--

  • Thanks for the comments. I have spent the last day making some pretty heavy changes to the piece. It's now much more dramatic with a bigger fanfare... see what you think.

  • Very very nice music and well done. I think maybe a little EQ rolling of some of the midrange in the string chords and maybe even brass might help. I've had the same issue when using cresc., samples together, things just get a little thick and the elasticity seems to disappear. Overall I think you have a successful piece there on many levels.

  • Are you making any money off this, cause you should be. You should at least put it in a music library.

Heh! ;D If only I were. Nothing would please me more than to be putting music professionally to films, or computer games. As you may have seen I composed an Album called "Elven Moods" which is orchestral/ambient (Made with Roland JV and XP synths). But my new album "Elven Moods II" is done with the VSL.

I'm trying to sell the first album (which given its synth limitations actually sounds pretty good), to perpetuate the second album.

So if you know a good agent, or library let me know. I could really use the cash these days. ;D

  • Yea there are a lot music libraries to check out. I don't which ones are looking for new artists though. Do a google on music library and you will find 100's of them. The key is to get lucky!
