  • Co-operation with MusicLab?

    If anyone has tried Music Lab's RealGuitar, youi'll know what an excellent, intuitive and effective VI it is. But...the sound is not as nice as VSL's Concert Guitar IMO (at least for solo or classical-sounding guitar).

    Now, a combination of the VSL Concert Guitar library with the RealGuitar interface would be superb!! Here's a quote from their website;
    "MusicLab, Inc. is open for any kind of co-operation in the field of creating musical software and hardware."

    They're currently developing a set of electric guitar sounds but I could imagine Overdrive would even be terrific for that! VSL have already done all the sampling work, and the standard of audio engineering and editing in Vienna is probably the best in the world right now.

    Actually, the visual aspect of the RG interface is really good to use. Much easier than remembering a bunch of keyswitches, really. Imagine the same set of tricks for the sound of the VSL saxaphone, or other solo instruments!!

    I think innovative people should get together and create even more brilliant things!

    What do you think, please, Herb?

  • My guess is they're already working on this. Combining MIR, the performance tool, and their own sample playback engine (so they don't have to keep coming out with 4 different formats for every library) into one elegant user interface we will see the simplicity of some of the synful concepts and even perhaps some of those elements you see in this new interface---All In One. You will never again have to fool with the perf tool or choose between dozens of similar articulations because this will all be done under the hood. Or mess with the dirmixer in Logic or have multiple reverbs ever again. One simple interface: choose Violins, place them on the stage, and play.

    Just a guess.

  • well, that would be nice. But the RealGuitar interface is ready now. Of course, if VSL are planning this kind of move then it would make sense to do it for the full product range in the medium term.

    Interestingly, my supposition is that discounting the range-as is being currently offered- often comes soon before new products are introduced. Just an idea which anybody at VSL my or may not want to comment on..... [[;)]]
