I may be one of the few, but I much prefer using the Synchron player to VI Pro, even though when I come to mix I strip out all the Synchron's convolution reverbs etc and stick the instruments into MIR. More fun for me that way...
So it's nice to see these collections released on Synchron, especially the brand new instruments. But they're too big for me, and I have many of the instruments and sections already. I would love to see individual instruments released separately for Synchron so I can add a few missing links without further reliance on VI Pro. Don't get me wrong, VI Pro is great, but I just find the Synchron player quicker and more intuitive to work with.
Would love to see a Synchronised piccolo trumpet for example!
Hi Lucy,
I also like the Synchron Player a lot. In the SYNCHRON-ized Library Installer, you can decide which parts you'd like to add (e.g., Strings, Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion, Piano for SY-ized SE Vol 1- if it's "only" about the size).
Separate instruments in such a small scale are not planned in the predictable future, so the SYNCHRON-ized Special Editions will be quite a good choice for you, in my eyes.
Best,
Paul
Well no it's not all about size, I was just being polite. My finances are in tatters after buying everything I can from you since I discovered VSL a year and a half ago!
But I understand it's not worth you Synchronising each individual instrument. I will just have to buy my "missing link" instruments for VI, when I can afford them.
xx
Hi folks,
Are Steinberg cubase expression maps ready for download or they will come later on? Since the way articulations are handled in synchron player, can we expect to have also Dorico expression maps in a not-too-far future (maybe with the next major release of Dorico)?
One more thing... is it possible to add an icon in VE Pro to open synchron player the way I do with VI Pro?
Thank you
W.
Hi, Paul.
Do the Synchronized Special Edition files have to be installed in the same directory of the previous version?
Alternatively, can I move the old files to a backup hard disk to make room?
I would like to do the same for the "old" Appassionata Strings, since I also have their Synchronized version and it seems useless to keep them both...
Hey Paul! Exciting product news and great "June offer" price! Well done! :-)
I am already using the old Special Edition Vol.1 and Vol.2. The upgrades from old SE Volumes to the new Synchronized are pretty clear. But what happens if I don't have full PLUS libraries, but only "Strings Vol. 1 PLUS"? Is there a way how to upgrade my "Strings Vol. 1 PLUS" to let's say a "Strings Vol. 1 PLUS synchronized" version? Or is this included if I simply upgrade to the full "Synchr. Vol. 1 PLUS" ?
Thanks for your infos!
Best wishes!
Hi dear VSL freinds,
This is probably a question for Dietz but Paul if you do know this please chime in here:
Are there any plans to integrate the MIRx extensions/bundle into the new Synchron Player? I quite like the flexibility to be able to switch quickly between venues as they sound very different from each other and they are all ready to go and use. This system works perfectly in the VI and VI Pro Players. It would be sad to see it go, not to mention the investment that was made.
I also second the inlcusion of a Synchron Player button on the bottom left of VE Pro! That would be real nice!
Thanks!

Hi!
Lots of questions, I will answer them one by one!
1) VST Expression Maps are in the works and will be added asap. Dorico: Tbh, I don't know, but Sibelius soundsets will be available soon.
2) A Synchron Player icon in VE Pro is also high on my wish-list and I pray for it every day. Let's see if that works.
@Roberto D:
Sample Location: You can store the data wherever you like. In Synchron Player, sample location management is done in Preferences => Database. Moving the VI sample content to a backup drive is a good idea, this way you can always move data around when needed.
The Concert D-274 Light comes with 30 velocities, a Room-Mix (a mix of all available room mics) and a Close microphone. Of course there is a difference to the Full Synchron Concert D-274, but the light version is a VERY powerful piano. More demos will be available for sure, in time.
We have decided to let the small Special Edition Sections go, but the upgrade paths will still be available. So you can upgrade to the VI Volume (with very attractive upgrade prices in June) and then get a crossgrade to the corresponding SYNCHRON-ized Volume.
No plans to add MIRx in the near future. Right now, everything in the Synchron Series takes place at Synchron Stage Vienna. But of course we are listening to our users, so let's see :-)
Best,
Paul

One more thing... is it possible to add an icon in VE Pro to open synchron player the way I do with VI Pro?
I would like that too, as well as a keyboard shortcut.
Best,
David
YES! Same here. đ

Hi Paul
Do they have to be installed in the same computer as the VI version?
My SE libraries are installed in a slave that is running out of space and don't want to add an extre SSD. I wonder if I can install the syncronized version on a different computer.
Thanx!!!
Hi Paul,
the synchronised SE looks very, VERY tempting. I have a couple of questions, though.
Am I going to run into some phasing issues when playing the same note on the 1st and 2nd violins at the same time? Would a workaround from the VI SE work (pitching the 2nd violins by a whole tone and then repitching in the daw)?
Is it possible to swap the positions of the solo viola with the solo cello (a lĂ string quartet), via presets perhaps?
Thank you.
Hi Stan,
All taken care of for you, you get second violin sections with all articulations for Chamber Strings, Orchestral Strings and Appassionata Strings, with the pitching applied and phasing-safe positioning!
You can change mixer settings as you like, by either manipulating the convolution reverb (load other convolution preset), playing a bit with the power pan, or using the non-convolution presets and adjust them accordingly.
Best,
Paul
